Linkbuilding for Seo

August 12, 2011 3:39 pm 0 comments

Getting links to your site equals SEO. We all wish it was that simple here at Seo Manchester but the truth is that links still are very important in terms of rankings but they are not the single most important ranking factor for a website or page.

Despite all the ongoing changes to the Google Algorithm , link building to a site has not devalued significantly and links remain as one of the most important factors in increasing the search engine page rankings for any keywords and search terms that are relevant to your website and business. Researching and analysing your competitors links is an essential part of any SEO campaign because  the link profile of a site can often account for why some websites are able to rank higher than other much more informative and user friendly sites in the Serps.

Search Engine page Rankings

It is a constantly ongoing process to build links to improve  search engine ranking results because the search engines will need to see a gradual and continuous link profile develop that is as varied and natural as possible

In order to get good rankings on the front page preferably and to keep the rankings in the search engines, not only do you have to be adept at onsite SEO, but you also need to be aware that a  specific and contextual link building campaign is becoming increasingly important to get your site to rank at the top of the search engines. This is while not neglecting any other aspect of Seo.

Contextual link building is the practise of creating incoming links to your site that are relevant . They could be from a similar business to your own as long as there is basically something in common and the link cannot be perceived by the search engines as non- relevant . While not all links are strictly contextual , make sure you get attention from social bookmarking and Web 2.0 sites too, it is still  best practise and considerate white hat seo  to keep as many of your links as is possible to be coming from sites that are relevant to your topic or industry.  Make sure that the anchor text on the link is rich with the keywords that are relevant and important to your business. For example, if you sell office supplies,  you should build links to your site from trusted contextual link sources using the specific anchor text ” office supplies”, it sends more value back to your site than just linking your company name back to the website your are working on.

It is always best to employ manual link building strategies as automated link building often has a habit of going wrong and actually damaging a site , causing penalties by the search engines it wanted to increase rankings for. No shortcuts unfortunately for good, solid link building.
